One of the core aims of the Proactive Ageing profile area at Lund University is to foster ambitious, multidisciplinary research that promotes healthy and proactive ageing. By bringing together experts from diverse fields—ranging from medicine and social sciences to engineering, humanities, and design—we aim to generate new knowledge and innovative solutions that can transform how we understand, experience, and support ageing.

Ambitious multidisciplinary research is essential for tackling the complex challenges of ageing. However, such research faces unique hurdles, particularly in its early stages, when ideas are still forming and funding opportunities are limited. Through our seed funding programme, the proactive ageing profile area supports ambitious innovative projects by helping research teams at this critical stage of ideation and development, helping them turn bold concepts into actionable projects.
